Dr. G. Yves Laflamme is an orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty training in lower limb reconstruction, joint replacement surgery (hip and knee prostheses), and trauma surgery (pelvis). He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Montreal, followed by fellowship training at the University of Toronto, where he was mentored by Professors Marvin Tile and Hans Kreder.
He has been practicing at Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur-de-Montréal (CIUSSS du Nord de l’Île de Montréal) for over 25 years and has performed more than 12,000 surgeries to date.
Since the beginning of his academic career, Dr. Laflamme has dedicated a significant part of his time to clinical research, with the primary goal of improving the quality of care for his patients. With a creative and innovative mindset, he has developed several new surgical techniques aimed at optimizing clinical outcomes while minimizing complications. He also invented an innovative technology—the Y3 plate—specifically designed to stabilize fractures associated with hip prostheses.
Committed to enhancing patient comfort, Dr. Laflamme was one of the first surgeons in Quebec to adopt less invasive surgical approaches for joint replacements. As early as 2017, he implemented the ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) program, which aims to reduce surgical stress and accelerate recovery for patients undergoing hip or knee replacement surgery.
