COMPUTER-ASSISTED SURGERY (CAS)

Computer-assisted surgery (CAS) allows the surgeon to customize each joint replacement procedure with exceptional precision—down to the exact degree and millimeter. The computer performs calculations to provide the surgeon with real-time feedback. CAS helps surgeons determine the amount of bone to remove and improve limb alignment and implant positioning.

During the procedure, the surgeon collects data to help the computer generate a virtual model of your hip or knee joint. The surgeon can make adjustments to the plan during surgery to ensure optimal implant placement.

ROBOT-ASSISTED SURGERY TECHNOLOGY

At the Hanche Genou Clinic, our mission is to revolutionize hip and knee replacement and reconstruction. By using high-quality implants, the latest surgical techniques, and innovative technologies, we create personalized solutions tailored to each patient.

Robot-assisted technology allows your surgeon to perform a customized knee replacement with both precision and accuracy during the procedure. The technology collects detailed data about your hip or knee, helping your surgeon select the implant that best fits your unique anatomy.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Robot-assisted surgery is a specialized category of computer-assisted surgery (CAS) in which a cutting tool is housed within a handheld or robotic arm. After collecting and uploading data to the computer, a patient-specific 3D model is generated. This allows the surgeon to adjust the bone resections (the amount of bone to be removed) for the best possible fit with the implants. The robotic tool is then used to precisely prepare the bone and carry out the surgical plan—always under the direct control of the surgeon. Regardless of the technique, once the bone is prepared, the implants are placed to complete the procedure.

ADVANTAGES OF USING ROBOT-ASSISTED TECHNOLOGY:

  • Supports your surgeon with advanced technology that provides real-time surgical data for informed decision-making.
  • Operates intraoperatively without requiring a CT scan, potentially saving you time and money.
  • Helps your surgeon accurately remove damaged bone.
  • Uses an infrared camera and optical trackers to gather essential data about your hip or knee anatomy.
  • Enables greater range of motion (improved ability to bend and flex your knee after surgery).
  • Less pain compared to traditional methods.
  • Faster recovery times (shorter hospital stays).
