Rheumatoid arthritis of the hip joint
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the synovial membrane lining the hip joint. This results in chronic inflammation, causing pain, swelling, and stiffness in the hip, which can significantly impair mobility and quality of life. Unlike osteoarthritis, which is caused by wear and tear, RA can affect individuals of any age and often involves multiple joints.
