Dr. Hai Nguyen is an orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty training in hip and knee joint replacement and reconstruction. He has spent the past 18 years at Charles-Lemoyne Hospital and Jean-Talon Hospital, caring for patients of all ages with degenerative and destructive conditions affecting the hip and knee. Driven by a constant goal to relieve pain, restore function, improve quality of life, and minimize complications, Dr. Nguyen has built a career rooted in mastering a wide range of advanced surgical techniques.
Dr. Nguyen is skilled in the anterior, posterior, and minimally invasive approaches to hip surgery. His expertise includes hip resurfacing, large-diameter heads, and dual mobility cups. For knees, he offers the full spectrum of partial and total replacement options. Most recently, he has integrated computer-assisted and robotic technology into his practice to bring added precision and reliability to surgery. For Dr. Nguyen, all of these tools serve one ultimate purpose: to restore the native anatomy of the joint and return it to its natural, individualized movement.
This philosophy of personalized surgery through kinematic alignment is transforming the field of arthroplasty—and Dr. Nguyen is at the forefront of this movement. As a clinical assistant professor at both the Université de Sherbrooke and the Université de Montréal, he teaches this tailored surgical approach to medical students, residents, and peers. He also contributes to the certification of new surgeons as an examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Finally, to enhance the patient care experience beyond the surgery itself, Dr. Nguyen has taken a keen interest in Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols. These next-generation, standardized practices are designed to speed up recovery, shorten hospital stays, and reduce surgical complications. This enriching professional journey has equipped Dr. Nguyen with the techniques, technologies, and mindset needed to care for each patient in a truly personalized way—in every sense of the word.
